Wear-Resistant Pipe Bends

Wear-Resistant Pipe Bends – a Durable Solution for Abrasive Material Transport

Wear-resistant pipe bends are essential to avoid frequent replacements in piping systems where abrasion is a challenge. In vacuum or pneumatic transport of abrasive materials such as powders and granulates, significant wear often occurs in the pipe bends, particularly where the load is highest. This results in frequent downtime, increased maintenance costs, and production interruptions.

With the right wear-resistant pipe bends, you can minimize these challenges and ensure a longer service life and more efficient operation in your process plant. We offer a wide range of solutions tailored to various needs and materials.

Durable Pipe Bend HVA NIRO

These bends are ideal for transporting abrasive materials and have a lifespan up to 10-20 times longer than standard stainless steel bends.

The hard and wear-resistant surface is achieved through a special hardening process that protects the bend from wear. HVA NIRO bends are available with the following standard specifications:

  • Pipe diameters: From ø38.0 to ø168.3 mm
  • Wall thicknesses: From 1.5 to 2.0 mm
  • Bending radius: From 75 to 1000 mm
  • Bending angle: 45 and 90 degrees

Other dimensions are available upon request. Feel free to contact us for further details – we are happy to assist!

Highly wear-resistant pipe bend DWR

This solution is used for highly abrasive products. The pipe bend is encased in another bend, creating a double-walled construction that acts as a protective shield. As the inner pipe surface wears, the space behind gradually fills with product. This creates “product-on-product” contact during transport, which protects the pipe from further abrasion.

The double-skinned solution is not suitable for food production or processes involving material changes.

The double-walled pipe bend is also available in a variant with an external protective layer of cement. This significantly extends the pipe bend’s service life and makes it extremely durable. The protective cement layer provides a strength of more than 100 N/mm², giving the bend properties similar to those of ceramic materials.

Glass Pipe Bends

Glass pipe bends are excellent for applications requiring minimal friction and high flow rates. Our glass bends are made of 3.3 borosilicate glass, an extremely hard and wear-resistant material. This is particularly important when transporting abrasive materials such as glass-reinforced plastic granules. Glass bends are equipped with an integrated copper strip for protection against static electricity and are resistant to both chemical materials and high temperatures. Glass bends are also available in a plastic-reinforced version to prevent shattering if dropped on the floor. All glass bends are available in 45 and 90-degree angles with diameters of ø47, ø56 or ø66 mm. We also offer pipe couplings for mounting glass bends onto either glass bends or stainless steel pipes.
